Bala, with a population of approximately 1,550, remains a jewel nestled by the serene Bala Lake, Wales’ largest natural body of fresh water, extending over four miles in length. This charming town is an ideal base for exploring the captivating landscapes that surround it.
The region is rich in natural beauty and offers a plethora of excursions to enchanting locations such as the tranquil Lake Vyrnwy, the commanding Berwyn Hills, the picturesque Dinas Mawddwy, and the towering Arenig Fawr. Each destination promises its own unique blend of scenic vistas and opportunities for outdoor adventures, from gentle walks to more strenuous hikes.
Hotels: For accommodation, all the hotels listed in the original entry are still open to the public. The White Lion Hotel remains a traditional establishment offering a warm Welsh welcome, comfortable accommodation, and a taste of local hospitality. Plas Coch Hotel is known for its inviting atmosphere, the Plas Coch serves as a perfect retreat after a day of exploration, offering cosy rooms and delightful cuisine. While the Bull’s Head Hotel is still open as a pub, it appears to no longer provide accommodation.
